About Our Project

Our team was given a custom built CNC-machine based on the parts of a an old cencorp's 1300 SR depaneling machine. Originally salvaged by engineers at Nokia for an unknown purpose. It lacked any and all documentation, and our task was to study its internals and make it work with g-code.

However, it turned out to be impossible or at least very hard to maintain and extend with new functionalities, even if our team was successful. Due to technological incompatibilities, unavailability of parts and lack of documentation, forced us to backtrack and study the machine itself. We came to the conclusion that the best value for the customer is in a thorough background study of its internals, electronics and protocols, so that the next time has a better foothold on where to start.

The technologies and parts used in the machine are obsolete, and a total overhaul is needed for it to support g-code.
