HealthExtract: Helping non-tech researchers access Big Data 2021
Premise and goal
Health data is more and more relevant every day. On one hand it’s becoming easier to research through digitalization, while on the other hand health-research is heavily regulated due to the sensitive information contained within the data. Researching big data is a complicated process due to its multidisciplinary nature and the requirement for programming expertise. So in order to access data and to do science the non-IT researchers usually need assistance from IT personnel.
The goal of our team was to create an application for health researchers to browse the IKITIK-database.
Result
The project started with the data that was provided. Based on that data, an application was designed and created with simplicity in vision. The application is able to do search queries and save the results if necessary. There are two ways to make queries, a simple search and an advanced search. As the name says, advanced search gives options for a more refined search while simple search conducts a basic search. The users are able to save and view the history of their queries.
There weren’t any major deviations from the initial goal and the application is functional as required.
