Compelling XR Content with ctrl.studio 2024
About our project
Extended Reality (XR) is expected to be in the center of future technology and immersive content. However, it still hasn’t achieved a major commercial breakthrough. While many of the primary technical challenges are nearing resolution, XR still suffers from lack of content and hasn’t been established among consumers and businesses.
To tackle this problem, CTRL Reality has created ctrl.studio, an accessible web editor for creating XR content. To demonstrate the potential use cases and advantages of the platform, we created three distinct showcases, each aimed to demonstrate the diverse content capabilities enabled by ctrl.studio. These showcases were designed with two core principles in mind: - Utilizing ctrl.reality features to their full potential - Identifying and centering the value of XR
Results
We achieved three different showcases with high quality interactive content for both VR and AR. The AR content was published via CTRL Reality’s Tarina app.
Virtual Product Showcases
Virtual product showcases that present and highlight the benefits of Happy Sinks kitchen gadgets. During this project we also tested and compared different methods in creating 3D assets and compiled a report of benefits and disadvantages of each method.
Pioni's Nature Trail
A story-driven AR nature trail that utilizes an existing nature trail in Marjaniemi, Ruissalo. The trail uses interactive elements, such as dialogue trees and multiple choice quizzes, to teach children nature etiquette and ho to connect with nature. The trail is designed to encourage interaction with both virtual elements and the real-life environment while providing an entertaining experience which also considers the safety of the users. The trail is available in both Finnish and English.
Campus XR Guide
Interactive 3D scenes for various university services, such as the e-exam room and printers. The XR guide walks the user through the process of using these services via interactions, making instructions more accessible and replacing in-person walkthroughs. Both VR version for web and AR version for mobile were created.
