Capstone

Goal

Our client, Piplia, wished to recreate a single parable from the Bible in virtual reality. The user chooses a character from the parable, and they follow the parable from that character’s point of view. The user is also in control of pace of the story, and are able to trigger important events in the parable to move the story along

Implementation

The application was built with Unity, and the target hardware was HTC Vive. The end product includes custom made 3D environments that the user can interact with using common features found in VR software, such simply moving in the space and teleportation.

Assets used in the project are a mix of assets found from the Unity Asset Store and self made assets. Important assets include SteamVR, WeatherMaker and UMA (Unity Multipurpose Avatar). 3D modeling work was done with Blender to produce props, such as houses, boats and clothing.

The client worked together with the team in writing a script for the the story, and also produced voice acting in both Finnish and English for important pieces of dialogue.

Future Development

The client found the end product promising, and intend to show it at public events along with other projects. They have also shown interest in creating and investing in additional VR experiences.
